Kick the Habit

Smoking is linked to serious health problems such as cancer, and it can also be a health hazard to those around you. If you’re pregnant, smoking is especially dangerous to developing fetuses. Here are some steps that may help you quit:

  • Add up all the money you spend on cigarettes. Ask yourself what you’d rather do with that money during the next 10 years.
  • Consider using a self-help group or telephone support line.
  • Talk with your doctor about medicine that can help ease your withdrawal symptoms. Nicotine replacement therapy, used in connection with counseling, has been shown to increase the success rate of those attempting to quit smoking.

CCHP Can Help You Quit Smoking

Chinese Community Health Plan offers qualified members a great service: individual counseling. A registered dietitian can counsel patients to help them take control of their conditions through medical nutrition therapy. Also, an American Lung Association–certified counselor can guide clients through a quit smoking process following the Freedom from Smoking Program.

A referral is required from your primary care physician in order to be eligible for counseling. For more information, please contact:
